#My mac ftp server free
If your ISP is blocking port 21 (the standard FTP port) then try changing it to something else.like anything 1000+ is usually free (i think). all your buddy should have to know is your IP address, and the port your running your FTP server on. You shouldnt have to worry about DNS addresses. I tried using the IP and the dns address that winipcfg gives me. Wont matter with FTP, will make transfers slower over share'd drives if you are all plugged into the same hub tho.otherwise, your speed will be limited by your cable modem's outbound bandwidth.so you wont really notice anything (speed wise) if your both on diffent cable modems and sub-nets. I did notice that we were on difference subnets All the IP address leasing is done by the DHCP server. You can reset it if you like.the cable modem is not what keeps track of the IP Addresses and such.you should treat it just like any modem. THought about reseting the cable modem but don't know if I want to do that. This is good b/c you now have a semi-permanent IP addr.My cable provider does the same thing, and i have had it for about a year now w/o ever drawing a new IP address. Think it associates my mac address with the IP and kind of locks me into it. I think it associates my mac address with the IP and kind of locks me into it. I tried to get a new IP address from the DHCP by releasing and renewing my info but it keeps giving me the same one. Anyone have an ideas as what to do now? I did notice that we were on difference subnets. Also tried sharing the drive and having him map it as a network drive but that doesn't work. He tried using an frp client as well as IE, but that shouldn't really make a difference. Also we cannot transfer any files via aol instant messager(last resort). He nor any of his roommates can get to the server or ping me. I think the ISP has done something to not allow us to connect to each other. What is my FTP host Your FTP Host / Address would be your Site IP or Server Hostname, which. Only thing is that I can't get the person I need to connect to it connected. Login to your server using Filezilla Open Filezilla Client and select File > Site Manager to open a panel where you can enter your FTP details ) Port: Port is the number used for FTP connections to the server and port 21 is mostly used. Ok I got the thing setup and got people connecting to it to test it out.
